Dennis Clarahan, a farmer from Keokuk County, has been named by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association as its 2025 Producer of the Year.

Clarahan operates Clarahan Farms out of Harper with his wife, Sheryl, and two sons, Ryan and Neil. Their operation works with both cattle and crops. Clarahan Farms earned its Century Farm title in 2023, signifying a farm’s continuous ownership by the same family for over 100 years.

The ICA Producer of the Year nomination must come from another ICA producer member. Clarahan was nominated by Bob Noble, with help from Ryan Clarahan. The application noted that Clarahan is noted for his quality bulls and hospitality at his sales. Noble noted that Clarahan is a welcoming, friendly face with “quite the operation.” The application notes that Clarahan’s herd has shown continuous improvement over the last several decades, thanks to his decisions.

Clarahan has previously served two terms as a district director on the ICA board. He also served two terms with the American Chianina Association. Clarahan got his start showing cattle in 4-H and FFA. He has fed cattle since he was seven years old, and enjoys telling people that he has been in the business for over 60 years.
