Kirkwood Workplace Learning Connection reported an increase in services provided and a successful year to the Washington County Board of Supervisors at their most recent meeting.
The program provides students opportunities for career exploration including job shadows and internships. The report was given by Workplace Learning Connection Director Kristine Bullock and she had this to report on Washington County, “Last year, we provided 35,000 student experiences across our region, and in Washington County we saw specifically, a 27% increase of event participation, 28% increase in job shadows, and a 5% increase in internships. We think that was because we have been able to realign our team members so that school districts get more staff time from our team with each individual school, and are being more efficient about student engagement and experiences.”
Bullock also presented a funding request to the Supervisors for the coming year of $2,256.50 which is based on the 2020 population estimate and taken at $.10 per capita. This is the same amount that was requested the previous year.
