Youth in Louisa County will have the opportunity to explore Iowa’s wildlife, habitats and conservation practices through a new club.

The Louisa County 4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Program is a hands-on experience, where attendees learn through guided activities, field studies, and team-based problem-solving. Some topics of discussion include habitat evaluation, species identification, land management planning, and the ecological principles behind Iowa’s diverse landscapes.

Attendees participate in outdoor surveys and habitat improvement projects, and work with local conservation partners including local landowners, the  Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and the Louisa County Conservation Board. Through these activities, club members will learn how wildlife interact with their environment and explore how people can protect and restore natural resources.

The first meeting for the new club is December 28th. Registration can be done online on the 4-H website.
