The Lone Tree Lion girls and boys basketball teams traveled north to face off with Cedar Valley Christian in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday. The Lady Lions were a runaway 61-18 winner. Lone Tree used a 16-2 first quarter run and 16-6 second quarter sprint to go on top 32-8 at half. A 21-6 run in the third put the game out of reach. Lone Tree shot 35% on the night with 35 rebounds, 23 steals, and 18 assists. Ava Christofferson led the scoring with 18 points. Finley Jacque scored 17 and was the team leader with eight rebounds, seven steals and six assists. Lone Tree improved to 6-3 with the win while CVC remains winless.
The boys contest went to the Huskies 71-65. CVC led 21-13 after the first and 36-25 at half. Lone Tree put together their best offensive quarter of the night in the third, putting up 22 points, but the Huskies had 25. Lone Tree won the fourth quarter 18-10, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback. The loss dropped the Lions to 1-6, while the Huskies stand at 5-2.
