The Lone Tree Lion boys and girls basketball teams hosted the Pekin Panthers at the Tree House last week. The Lady Lions were a 53-36 winner. Lone Tree led early 17-7 after one and they doubled up the Panthers at half 32-16. Lone Tree maintained the lead through the second half en route to a 17 point victory. Pekin shot 31% to Lone Tree’s 30%, the Lions won the glass 40-33, assists 11-8, steals 13-10 and turnovers 31-21. Finley Jacque led Lone Tree with 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Ava Christofferson had 12 points, Dalanie Graap had 10 points and five assists. The win advanced Lone Tree to 5-3 overall while Pekin dropped to 3-2.

A fast start for Pekin derailed Lone Tree hopes in the boys game as they fell 72-37. The Panthers went on an extended 25-6 run that lasted the full first quarter and led 46-22 at half. A 20-8 Pekin sprint in the third put the contest out of reach. Lone Tree shot 34% with 25 rebounds, six assists, four steals and 23 turnovers. Domonic Garcia led with 17 points. The loss dropped the Lions to 1-5 while Pekin moved to 4-1.
