Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has announced the approval 108 different projects across 46 counties to support new and expanded biofuel infrastructure projects in the state. The projects amount to nearly $4.6 million. These cost-share agreements aim to help drivers save money at the pump by expanding access to lower-cost, cleaner-burning homegrown biofuels such as E15 and biodiesel.

Two of the approved projects are in Louisa County. A total of $125,000 was granted to Farmers Elevator and Exchange in Wapello. The money will be divided between two sites– $75,000 for the Retail E15 Site, and a further $50,000 for the Retail Biodiesel Site.

Naig says, “These investments are about making it easier and more affordable for Iowans to choose homegrown fuels at the pump. By helping fuel retailers upgrade and modernize their infrastructure, we are expanding access to E15 and biodiesel, supporting local jobs, and benefiting Iowa communities. These projects also help ensure fuel stations are prepared to meet Iowa’s E15 Access Standard and serve their customers well into the future.”

Since the cost-share grant program began in 2006, the department has invested nearly $70 million toward expanding renewable fuels infrastructure in Iowa.
