Take time this holiday season to go see the Mount Pleasant Festival of Lights at the Midwest Old Threshers grounds.
Starting in 2013, the Festival of Lights spans a two-mile route and now features 180 different displays, which makes it one of the biggest drive-through light parks in Iowa. Midwest Old Threshers CEO Terry McWilliams says the festival is bigger than ever, “We were able to expand this year, and so folks are going to see display after display after display as they drive through the lighted route.”
Work on the Festival of Lights begins each January, when Midwest Old Threshers starts looking at different displays to potentially bring in to be a part of the festival. Work then starts setting up the displays around October. McWilliams says they change things up every year to keep things fresh and new for returning visitors.
The entry fee is $10 for a family car. Santa Claus will be making appearances each night from the 19th up until the 23rd. The Festival of Lights is open from 5:30 p.m. to 9 each day until New Year’s Eve.
