The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls wrestling team won two of three duals and honored their seniors Monday on Senior Night at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. Mid-Prairie beat Anamosa 48-36 and Tipton 48-30, but fell to West Liberty 48-33. Individual standouts for Mid-Prairie included unbeaten nights for Etta Bell, Paytin Love, Austyn Sexton, Layken Lee, Sophie Miller and Ellie Callahan, each with a pair of pins. Mid-Prairie honored seniors Ellie Callahan and Sophie Miller during a ceremony. Miller spoke after the meet with KCII Sports about her night. “My match of the night was probably against West Liberty, she put up a little bit more of a fight. It was fun to compete that way. The (Senior Night Ceremony) was pretty great. It was a little bittersweet not having my Dad with me there. I really love all of my family that came to support me. That was really special!”
The Golden Hawks are now 6-3 on the dual season.
