The Washington School Board will be pausing discussion on the four-day school week for the time being.

At their meeting last week, the School Board had it on their agenda to pause the discussion on a potential four-day week. After the topic was put on the agenda, a petition was sent to board president Mike Liska stating that some staff would like another survey to be put out to all staff on the topic.

The previous survey that was sent out to staff last year had 229 responses out of 360 staff. The board moved away from submitting another survey to staff at this time, citing the survey had been sent out on the topic last year and multiple discussions that were had as a school district including input from educators, staff, parents, and students.

The board voted unanimously to take the topic off of future meeting agendas, but did state that they are open to discussion with individuals outside of meetings about a four-day week.
