
The WACO Warrior boys and girls basketball teams took a Tuesday trip to Louisa-Muscatine for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The WACO boys got the road win 58-49. The Warriors were up 14-12 after one, but a home-team run found WACO behind 30-22 at the break. The Warriors counter-punched in the second half, winning the third period 19-11, and the final frame 17-8 for the come-from-behind win. L-M shot 50% to WACO’s 40%. The Warriors made eight threes to just two for the Falcons. WACO was outrebounded 47-19 and lost steals 19-11. Each team had 13 assists. The Warriors won turnovers 22-7. WACO leaders were Sam Meyer with 18 points and five steals. Kellen Shelman scored 11. Holden Hughes pulled in nine boards, Hayden Shelman had five assists. WACO is 2-1 with the win, L-M is now 1-3.
The girls game featured a 45-32 Falcon win. L-M was up 16-9 after one and 23-18 at half. They closed out the Warriors by winning the second half 22-14. The Falcons advance to 4-1 with the win and the Warriors are winless in three tries.
