Two games on the calendar and it was two home wins Tuesday for the Keota Eagle girls and boys basketball teams in South Iowa Cedar League play over Colfax-Mingo. The girls started the night with a 36-28 victory over the Tigerhawks. Defenses controlled action all night with the Eagles 14 point opening period the only frame of the night where either team got to double figures. Keota led 14-6 after one and 21-15 at half. They outscored the visitors 15-13 after half. Keota shot 24% from the floor, knocking down four threes with 43 rebounds, 10 steals, eight assists and 20 turnovers. Cameron Haifley’s 16 points led the way for the Eagles. Kennedy Jackson had 12 rebounds and Karley Greiner 11. Emily Conger finished with a game-high four assists and four steals. The Eagles are 5-0, Colfax-Mingo 1-4.

The boys game was a 51-30 Keota win. A fast start propelled the Eagles, who were up 13-2 after one and 32-9 at half. Keota shot 36% from the floor and made five threes with 30 rebounds, 16 steals, 15 assists and just eight turnovers. Jackson Vittetoe went double double with 21 points and 11 rebounds with four steals. Porter Cave scored 11 and Chase Haifley four assists. Keota is 3-0 and Colfax-Mingo winless.
