Four boys wrestling teams traveled to Wapello Saturday for the Willard Howell Invitational and four local athletes brought home individual titles.

Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union had the highest local team finish, placing third with 128 points. Wilton was the winner at 217.5. Two Wildcats won gold including Justin Knipfer at 106lbs with a 3-0 day. Kason Dopler at 190 was also 3-0 to win the title. Other Wildcat highlights included Bowen Thomson at 132 and Fritz Figaro at 215 both runner-up and Dakota Aney third at 113.

The Highland Huskies were fourth with 110 points. A Highland trio finished runner-up including Landon Sweeting at 106, Cash Cole at 120 and Brock Nebergall at 126. Tyler Pierson at 132 and Jose Ramirez at 190 were both third.

Sigourney-Keota was sixth in the team standings with 89 points. Owen Menke was the winner at heavyweight, taking a title match decision 8-4 over Caleb Reymer of Erie-Prophetstown. Other SK highlights included runner-up for Dillon Menke at 157 and third place each for Ryker VanDenHuevel at 144 and Luke Flynn at 150.

WACO was seventh as a team with 71 points. Ian Maize was the winner at 113lbs by tech fall over Romann Derksen of Wilton. Rydge Sterna at 120 and Harley Larrimore at 157 were both third.
