The Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Board of Directors recently announced $12.2 million in grants to 26 Local Housing Trust Funds to strengthen local housing initiatives, and Washington County was among them.
The East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund which includes Washington County received $440,168. These funds from the 2026 grant have not yet been obligated.
ECIHTF allocated funds from the 2024 and 2025 IFA grant in Washington County to provide construction and down payment assistance for the Student Build Project for the City of Kalona and in combination with Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) grants to stretch those state dollars and provided housing rehab assistance to four homeowners in Washington County.
