The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams blew through the Camanche Storm Friday in a River Valley Conference doubleheader. The No. 13 Golden Hawk girls were a 57-30 winner in the opener. The Hawks were up 15-7 after one and a 19-7 run that spanned the full second quarter put them on top 34-14 at half. Mid-Prairie outscored the Storm 23-16 after break for the win. The Hawks won rebounding 38-35, assists 16-5, steals 26-11 and turnovers 37-23. Individually, three Golden Hawks got to double figures led by 16 points from Morgyn Bender. Jovi Evans scored 13 and Brooklyn Schneider 10. Evans had seven rebounds, six steals and four assists. Mid-Prairie is 2-0 on the year while the Storm are winless in three tries.
The boys game was a 60-47 win. The Golden Hawks pulled in 29 rebounds, had 15 steals and 12 assists. Three Hawks got to double figure scoring with Brooks Weber at 20 points, Bryce Henry 12 and Hudson Ehrenfelt 11. Henry led with eight boards, Weber had six steals and six assists. The Golden Hawk boys are 2-0 while Camanche drops to 0-1.
