Just before the holiday break, a pair of local girls wrestling teams took the mat at West Liberty for their annual invitational. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks had the highest area team finish, placing seventh with 96 points. North Scott and the Wilton Beavers both topped the standings with 152 points. Mid-Prairie had two individual tournament champions including Austyn Sexton at 110lbs pinning her way to a title including a fall over Neyva Alberhasky of Louisa-Muscatine in the finals. Ellie Callahan was the champ at 190lbs with four falls, including a pin of Sydnee Bliss of Wilton in the title bout. Other top finishes included Sophie Miller runner-up at 155lbs and Layken Lee third at 145.
The Washington Demons were 14th of 16 schools with 33 points. The Demons were headlined by a 3-2 tournament and fourth place finish for Ryha Wellington at 155lbs. Nora Stoutner at 125 and Bella Venenga at 155 both finished fifth.
