Students, teachers, and board members of the Mid-Prairie Community School District attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground equipment at West Elementary School this week.

The equipment, which features a turf surface and is connected to the elementary school by a new sidewalk, is one of many facility-related projects addressed by the school district since the passing of a bond issue in 2023. This includes renovations at the middle school and the addition of a classroom at East Elementary School.

Future projects include the completion of the Mid-Prairie Activities Complex, a 12,800-square foot building that will support Mid-Prairie athletic programs, and new classrooms, and ADA-compliant restrooms at West Elementary School.

Once these projects are complete, the community-based Facility Advisory Committee will reconvene in 2026 to review the next steps for the district, which could include a second future bond referendum to pay for additional larger-scale projects.
