
A house fire Saturday morning in Washington that spread to a neighboring house remains under investigation.
At 2:28 a.m. a report came in to Washington County Communications of a house fully engulfed in flames at 505 South 11th Street. Officials arrived on scene and advised that the residence to the north was also on fire. Vehicles at the scene were also damaged by the fire.
The Washington, Ainsworth, and Kalona fire departments extinguished the flames, also assisting at the scene were Washington County Ambulance, Washington EMS, Washington Police Department, and Alliant Energy. The fire rekindled, and authorities were called back to the scene at 8:02 a.m. Washington Fire Department and Washington EMS responded to the scene and the flames were extinguished.
The State Fire Marshal and Washington County Emergency Management were notified of the incident. Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong states the cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries in the fire.
