A local service organization is partnering up with Washington Middle School students to brighten the holidays for Washington families.
The Kiwanis AMers and the Middle School Builders Club will do some secret Santa shopping so area families have gifts to open on Christmas Day. Builders Club Advisor Erin Almelien explains what it means to see students participate, “As an educator it’s kind of fun because, they have a set amount, so they have their phone out with the calculator, and they are subtracting and, trying to figure out where the best deal is to get the most bang for their buck. So it’s really interesting to see them just take on this life experience as a middle schooler.”
Those interested can make a monetary or physical donation of toiletry items to the Kiwanis AMers. The group works with Family Connection of Henry and Washington County to select families in need.
The students will work together to wrap the gifts that are bought. Kiwanis will be partnering with the Family Connection to deliver the gifts to families before Christmas. The Kiwanis AMers are seeking donations for this service project until December 17th.
