Recently, the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) donated more than 9,500 pounds of ground pork across six regional food banks in Iowa and western Nebraska. 

The donations, made possible through funds raised at BBQ & Brew at the Ballpark and the support of Fareway Stores, represent $20,000 worth of protein and will help feed thousands of Iowans in need. The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) Food Reservoir in Hiawatha was among the food banks to receive a donation. HACAP provided food for 330 families in Washington County last year.

The annual BBQ & Brew at the Ballpark event, hosted by the Iowa Pork Producers Association, the Iowa Cubs and Fareway Stores, brings together pork lovers, brewers, and community partners for a night of  food and giving back. Proceeds from this year’s event, along with support from Fareway Stores, made possible the distribution of more than 9,500 pounds of ground pork to food banks serving families across the state.
