A fatal explosion occurred in Richland on Saturday night, according to the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office.

Just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, the sheriff’s office received reports of an explosion at the Richland location of Panama Transfer. The location is a freight company based out of Panama, Iowa. The sheriff’s office confirmed that someone died as a result of the explosion. Names of those involved have not been released pending an investigation by the State Fire Marshal.

The sheriff’s office, Keokuk County Hospital and Clinics, Richland Fire Department, and Richland QRS assisted with the situation.
