A full fall color show is in store this week as leaves turn color in the region.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, there is still a lot of green on the landscape in southeast Iowa, but areas with browns and yellows dot the landscape due to hickories and maples. Urban maples are showing various shades of red, orange and yellow. Most oaks are still green but are showing signs of changing soon. There are still a couple of weeks of good color left.
South central Iowa is currently undergoing a vibrant fall color transformation. Cherries are at their peak, showing rose hues. Sumac and ivies continue to display striking wine-red tones and hickories are also nearing peak with bright yellows. Some maples are starting to show warm orange and red glows. Oak trees, however, remain green, but many more yellows are showing. Hickories and maples are showing peak color.
This is the last fall color report of the season. It is provided by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
