The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard the Veterans Affairs Department’s quarterly report Tuesday during their regular meeting.
The report was presented by Veterans Affairs Director Carrie Rich, “For the first quarter, we had quite a few claims go out. We had 14 which is 10 more than last year’s first quarter. So I ended up assisting eight families among those 14 claims. I had two families do food and utilities, and two families do food and rent assistance. So that totaled $3,290.09. I haven’t had any claims yet for the second quarter. I would like to add that according to the VA GDX report from July to August we’ve had growth, even though it’s small, we’ve had more veterans get service connected so they are now receiving (federal) compensation.”
The Washington County Commission of Veterans Affairs provides assistance to Washington County veterans and eligible family members. They also provide assistance to veterans and their family members in applying for federal benefits and other veterans aid.
