
A Washington man was arrested after a narcotics investigation.
On October 22nd, a search warrant was executed at 2649 Wayland Road in Washington for an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the search, controlled substances, packaging materials, a digital scale, and cell phones were seized. As a result of the search officials arrested 34-year-old Deon Turrell Johnson Jr. of Washington on Wednesday on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, class D felonies; drug tax stamp violation, a class D felony; possession of prescription medication, a serious misdemeanor; and obstructing prosecution, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Johnson was on parole with the Iowa Department of Corrections for previous convictions in 2019 for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and a 2020 conviction for intent to deliver methamphetamine, both in Washington County. Johnson was discharged from prison onto parole in 2022. The Iowa Department of Corrections has filed a revocation of Johnson’s parole.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Johnson County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement in this case. Also assisting law enforcement was the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
