A Riverside man with an arrest warrant in Washington County was arrested on drug charges in Burlington last week. According to court records, at approximately 12:33 a.m. last Tuesday, a car in which 49-year-old Shawn Robertson was a passenger was pulled over by Burlington Police Department officers for a broken license plate light. A probable cause search was conducted with the help of a K-9 unit, during which officers found three small bags of suspected methamphetamine and a large “shard” of the substance.
Robertson was arrested and charged with a controlled substance violation, a class B felony, and failure to affix drug stamp, a class D felony.
On Friday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the arrest, as he had an arrest warrant for a parole violation following previous drug charges originating out of Washington County. A detainer was then placed on Robertson by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Robertson’s preliminary hearing for the new charges is scheduled for Friday. He is being held at the Des Moines County jail on a $10,000 cash bail, and an additional $5,000 cash bail has been placed on him by the Washington County Jail.
