The 68th Annual Pleasantview Benefit Sale is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Hillcrest Academy.
The sale will begin on Friday night with a silent auction from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and a live auction from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both auctions will continue Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until items sell out, which the benefit sale committee says normally happens around 11 a.m.
Other activities throughout the event include a bake sale, a turkey and tenderloin supper on Friday night, a pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday, and musical performances by Auction Acapella and The Doilies. A freewill donation will also be available throughout the sale.
The main item that this year’s fundraiser will go toward is the purchase of a new chiller, which serves as the campus’ central air conditioning unit. Benefit sale committee member Warren Yoder describes the importance of the new equipment, “With the expanding of the buildings, a new chiller was needed just to keep up with the air conditioning needs of the assisted living, the friendship center and memory care.” This is the second fundraising effort being put toward the new chiller.
This is the 11th year the event has been held at Hillcrest Academy after spending its first half century at the Kalona Sales Barn.
