The City of Washington recently announced that a Park’s Master Planning process is underway and they want the public’s input.
The City has entered into an agreement with planning and engineering firm Bolton & Menk to complete the Parks Master Plan.
The public information gathering phase kicked-off at the October 9th Farmer’s Market in Central Park. Citizens stopped by the display to provide input on amenities they would like to see added to Washington’s park system in the future from splash pads to playgrounds, from trails to shade structures.
An online survey is available for people to voice their opinions. It is open until November 14th. A link to that survey can be found with this news story at KCIIRadio.com.
A focus group of invited stakeholders that will be held on November 6th will be one of the final steps of the information gathering process. The information will be compiled into a final report that will be included in the Park’s Master Plan.
The Master Plan will help establish priorities and funding needs for park improvement projects over the next 10 years. The final report will be presented to the City Council early in 2026.
