The Washington Demon volleyball team had their season draw to a close Tuesday in the Class 3A regional tournament, dropping a quarterfinal match to the Benton Bobcats. The visitors got the sweep in the Demon Den by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-20. Washington head coach Aaron Six joined KCII Sports live on the postgame show to talk about the match, body of work for this year’s club and his seniors. “This team’s overall heart and desire to push through things was outstanding and that’s the mentality that we’ve had all season. We’ve gotten ourselves down at different times and been able to battle back, a lot of times picking up the victory. Tonight, we just couldn’t get over the hump. We were constantly with our backs to the wall. I can’t say enough about the senior leadership. These girls have put so much time and effort into volleyball, it has been a great time. We’ve had several milestones reached Leighton (Messinger) has reached 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs Taylor (Miksch) got her 500th kill tonight. Some of those things that haven’t been a part of Washington volleyball. The change in what Washington volleyball is. They started out their freshman year winning nine total matches. Then this year they go on a 10-game winning streak as seniors. It says a lot about their commitment to the sport.”

Demon stat-leaders included Reagan Miller with 19 assists and four aces. Ellie Farmer with 17 digs. Taylor Miksch with 14 kills. Leighton Messinger with 13 kills, 13 digs and three aces. Seven assists for Carys Miller, and two blocks each for Addison Miller and Lauren Drahota. Washington ends their season at 21-14 and says goodbye to five seniors including Carys Miller, Lily Brown, Taylor Miksch, Leighton Messinger and Addison Miller.
