Area Trunk or Treats are set to kick off this weekend, giving area families an opportunity to celebrate ahead of Halloween next week.
“Trunk or treating” is an alternative to traditional door-to-door Halloween trick-or-treating. Participants set up booths in the back of cars at event locations, condensing the process into a smaller, more controlled area.
The festivities will begin in Wayland on Thursday with a “greet and treat” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Main Street. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume or in general fall attire.
The Washington YMCA’s trunk-or-treat is this Saturday from 3-6 p.m.
The Wellman Community Club will host a Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. in downtown Wellman.
Also, a Jack O Lantern Jaunt is being held by the Kalona Historical Village on Thursday, October 30th. Children can trick-or-treat at the village buildings which are being sponsored by local businesses. The event will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and includes games, crafts, popcorn, and hot dogs.
