
A Washington man is facing a felony domestic assault charge following a weekend incident.
The Washington Police Department responded to a call Saturday around 5 p.m. and arrested 57-year-old Brian Knerr on the charge of domestic assault, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony.
According to court records the caller reported that Knerr was allegedly out of control and intoxicated. The report states that Knerr raised a hammer in the presence of the victim, causing the victim to feel threatened. Knerr has two prior convictions for domestic abuse assault in the State of Iowa from 1992 and 1999.
A preliminary hearing has been set for October 28th. Knerr is currently being held in the Washington County Jail.
