
Three local small school volleyball teams in the KCII listening area will be in action as they try to extend their season in the regional tournament.
In Class 2A, the Columbus Wildcats will go north to Bellevue. The ‘Cats rolled through rival Louisa-Muscatine in Monday’s opening round by straight sets to move to 11-15 on the year. Bellevue had a first round bye and is 15-10 on the season.
In Class 1A, the Keota Eagles are in Cedar Falls for a 1A quarterfinal. Keota was a four set winner over South Iowa Cedar League foe English Valleys Monday. The Eagles are 11-9 on the year. They draw Cedar Ridge Christian, who had a first round bye with a 19-10 overall record. The Regents are ranked No. 13 in the final poll of the season from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves cross Southeast Iowa Superconference divisional lines tonight when they travel to Holy Trinity Catholic. The Wolves are 17-10 this year after a four set win over Pekin in their playoff opener. The Crusaders are 34-6 and start the postseason in the quarterfinals after a first round bye. They are ranked No. 4 in Class 1A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
Winners tonight move on to the 1A and 2A Regional Semifinals on Tuesday.
