Not even wild horses could stop the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team Tuesday night as they dominated the visiting Davis County Mustangs in a 3A Regional Quarterfinal sweep at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman. The match belonged to the No. 8 Golden Hawks by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-6. Stat-leaders for the Hawks included Avery Helmuth with 15 assists. Elise Foster with 15 digs, Jovi Evans with 13 digs, 12 kills, 10 assists and four blocks. Katelyn Harland with six kills and five aces. Six blocks for Laurin Fay. Five kills and four aces for Harper Pacha. Following the match, Golden Hawk seniors Katelyn Harland and Laurin Fay joined the KCII Postgame Show to talk about the win. “Preparing for this match, we’ve really been focusing at the line to make sure that we’re serving aggressively, but still keeping them in. It feels like we were pretty disciplined overall tonight with our serving. As hitters, we’re looking for the hole, it does depend on where the set is, but normally the set is pretty good. We had high energy. The bench was engaged, which keeps the players hyped on the court. At the net, we watch the hitters hand, where they’re going to go and the block has to line up efficiently. Tonight we were really communicating, we were really positive. Our team is really connected.”

Mid-Prairie stands at 28-9 on the year as Davis County wraps up their season at 9-26. The Golden Hawks advance to the Class 3A Regional Semifinals Thursday when they host River Valley Conference rival West Liberty who was a winner by sweep over Fairfield. You can hear that match live on KCII, beginning with a 6:30p.m. Pregame show.
