The future site of the Winfield Historical Museum
The Winfield Historical Society is seeking donations to help pay for renovations at the Winfield Museum.
The museum received the old Elliott building, located at 108 N Locust St. through a donation in 2021. The society plans to use the building to expand the museum and provide additional display space. It has spent the past four years remodeling the building’s exterior, improvements which were paid for through grant funding. Attention has now turned toward the inside of the building. According to the historical society, the building needs repairs to the HVAC, wiring and plumbing in addition to the installation of new exhibits. Those renovations are estimated to cost $200,000.
In order to fund the improvements, the historical society is seeking donations from Winfield residents and Winfield-Mt. Union alumni. Those who intend to donate at least $2,500 will be able to fill out a pledge card. Those who fulfill their pledges will have their names listed on the Winfield Museum Honor Wall within the Elliott building.
Pledge cards have been mailed to Winfield residents. Those who did not receive a pledge card who wish to participate in the fundraising process can pick one up at City Hall or email the historical society.
