The football postseason has arrived for small school high school teams and four from the KCII listening area have earned bids.

In Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks, undefeated champions of Class 2A District 6, earned a top seed. The No. 6 Hawks, with their 7-1 overall record and unbeaten district mark will host North Fayette Valley, the four seed from Class 2A District 3 with their 3-5 overall record and 2-3 district mark.

In Class 1A, the Sigourney-Keota Cobras advanced to the playoffs as the two-seed out of District 6 at 4-4 on the year and 4-1 in district play. SK will host I-35 at the Snake Pit Friday in the opening round. The Roadrunners are the three seed out of District 7 with a 5-3 overall record and 4-1 mark in district.

In Class A, it’s the Columbus Wildcats in the field as the four-seed from District 5 with a 3-5 overall record and 3-3 league mark. They will travel to North Linn to meet the top seed Lynx, who finished the regular year 7-1 overall and 5-1 in district. These teams met earlier this year in a 54-7 North Linn win.

In 8-man, the WACO Warriors are in as a wildcard with a 3-5 overall record and 2-3 mark in district. They’ll take on top seeded Edgewood-Colesburg on the road, undefeated champs of District 4 with a 6-0 record and 8-0 overall mark.

The playoffs get underway Friday.
