A Mount Pleasant man was arrested on public intoxication and arson charges following a fire near the Washington HyVee Tuesday. 

The Washington Police and Fire Department responded to a call of trees on fire near the loading ramp 20 feet from HyVee. The fire was extinguished. They arrested 44-year-old Lucas Blint of Mount Pleasant for reckless use of fire, a serious misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor. 

According to court records, the officers responded to a fire call on the northeast corner of the Hy-Vee grocery store’s property and observed Blint lying next to the fire. Camera footage showed Blint starting the fire, which recklessly endangered the property of the store. 

Blint is currently being held in the Washington County Jail, a trial date has yet to be set.
