For the final time in the 2025 season, the Friday night lights will be shining down on the friendly confines of Case Field as the Washington Demon football team welcomes conference opponent Fort Madison to town in a game you can hear on KCII.

Washington will be looking to get back to .500 on the season, as they enter with a 3-4 overall and 1-2 district record after last week’s 42-0 loss at No. 3 Solon. The Demons were outgained by the Spartans 314-78 in total yardage and committed three turnovers. This season, Washington scores 23 points per game, gives up 33, and averages 272 yards per game, 185 rushing. Williams is the leading passer with 55 completions for 576 yards and three touchdowns to eight interceptions. He is the team’s leading rusher, sitting 165 yards shy of 1,000 on the season and is approaching 15 rushing scores. Stone is the top pass catcher with 218 yards on 23 receptions and a TD. Stone also owns a pair of rushing scores. Blaine Rees has eclipsed 60 tackles to lead Washington defensively. Brady Krantz leads in TFLs and sacks with 12-and-a-half and three, respectively. As a team, Washington owns 11 takeaways in 2025, and are top 10 in 3A in four statistical categories.

Fort Madison has struggled throughout the 2025 campaign at 0-7 overall and 0-3 in district play. Their last result was a 50-12 home loss to Fairfield last Friday. Quarterback Stefan Berlett threw for 86 yards and a score, while tailback Moses Thacher ran for 84 yards and the Bloodhounds’ other touchdown. Aurelio Jaciunde caught Berlett’s touchdown toss on his way to 60 receiving yards. Eric Cornelis led defensively with seven-and-a-half tackles. This year, Fort Madison scores 11 points per game, gives up 47 and averages 191 yards a night, 110 on the ground. Berlett is the leading signal caller with 500 passing yards on 65 completions and four touchdowns and interceptions each. Thacher has 390 rushing yards and six TDs, while Jaciunde is Berlett’s favorite target with 172 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jaciunde is the top ‘Hound defender with 28-and-a-half tackles. Ren Watson has three tackles-for-loss and a sack. As a team, Fort Madison has four takeaways.

This week, Washington head coach Kelly Williams gave KCII Sports his keys to a home finale win.

“They [Fort Madison] are better than what their record states,” Williams said. “Coach Doherty does a great job with the program. We’re going to have to play our best on Friday night. Got to protect the football, and then obviously it’s going to be won up front offensive line or defensive line.”

In the Varsity Bound era, the Demons own a 10-3 series lead dating back to 2008, with the Bloodhounds having taken three of the last five.
