The Washington Demon cross country teams went to work this weekend, traveling to Saturday’s North Linn meet in Troy Mills. The Washington boys were team runners-up of 11 with 66 points, edged out by Solon’s 65. Individual leader was Andrew Rees as runner-up in 16:34, one second behind winner Alex Torres of Vinton-Shellsburg. Other Washington runners included Jack Shepherd seventh, Ethan Hotchkiss 14th, Sawyer Tschantz 21st, Teag Miller 22nd, Parker Tschantz 55th, and Fletcher Brower 58th.

The Washington girls were fifth of 11 schools with 131 points. Solon won the title with 56 points. Individually, Iris Dahl was 10th in 20:24. Lauren Krogmann of Starmont was the winner in 19:10. Other Demons included Kora Miller 22nd, Emma Horak 25th, Angeline Anderson 32nd, Elli Van Der Molen 51st, Zully Aranda Terrones 65th and Allie Wulf 67th.
