write-in-the-gallery-1-1

The Washington Public Library is offering another opportunity for area writers. Participants can go anytime during the operating hours for some writing time in the art galleries at the library. These spaces include the Helen Wilson Gallery on the second floor, Art Underground, or with one of the pieces in the permanent collection throughout the library to do ekphrastic writing.

Ekphrastic writing is a literary description of or commentary on a visual work. Participants should bring a notebook or laptop and sign in at the front desk. Then they can choose a piece of art exhibited in one of the galleries or in the permanent collection. Spend some inspired time writing about the piece, and then share the piece with the community by turning it into the front desk.

Participants can participate in the ekphrastic writing during any of the normal library hours.
