The deadline for voter pre-registration ahead of November’s election is less than two weeks away.

While voters in Iowa are able to register the day of the election, pre-registration prevents delays and prevents voters from needing to bring documents, such as proof of address, with them to the polls.

In Washington County, voters who are not registered or who have moved since the last time they voted can pre-register to vote either in person or by mail. In-person registration can be done at the auditor’s office in the courthouse. Mail-in registrations should be sent to the auditor’s office, forms can be found on the Washington County Auditor’s website.

The deadline for pre-registration is 5 p.m. on October 20. Mail-in pre-registrations must be postmarked on or before that date.

The election will be held Tuesday, November 4th. Ballots will include city council and school board members, and in some instances bond referendums.
