The City of Columbus Junction has experienced its ninth water service interruption of the year. Some Columbus Junction water customers were temporarily without water following a main break last week, according to Columbus Junction Public Works.

On Wednesday, water leaks were discovered at the intersection of Gamble Street and Colton Street, causing residents to experience low water pressure. During the repairs, it was discovered that a section of the main line would need to be replaced, causing crews to temporarily shut down the intersection.

On Thursday, crews shut down water in the area and replaced the main, finishing work at around 2:30 p.m. Residents were placed under a boil order for 24 hours while samples were sent in for bacteria testing. Samples came back clean, and residents were able to return to regular water usage.

This was the ninth time in 2025 that Columbus Junction residents have been without water or placed under a boil order. Of those nine, two were for scheduled main replacements, while seven were for emergency repairs, including a week-long repair process in Toddtown due to substantial flooding in July.
