Tuesday, the Washington Golf and Country Club played host to Senior Night for the Demons and the annual Washington Invitational Cross Country Meet.

The home team put on a show and earned hardware in front of the home crowd, headlined by individual champion Andrew Rees, who raced to the boys title in a time of 16:11. The Demons finished third in the team standings with 66 points. Fort Madison won the meet with 38. Following Rees, other Washington boys finishers included Ethan Hotchkiss 11th, Jack Shepherd 13th, Parker Tschantz 19th, Teag Miller 22nd, Xavi Recendez 25th, Fletcher Brower 31st, Sawyer Tschantz 43rd, Logan Hoback 47th, and Quintyn Garibay 70th. For the Demon girls, it was a third place team finish with 80 points to lead all local schools. Fort Madison completed their team title sweep with 29 points. Washington’s Iris Dahl led area athletes as individual runner-up in 19:14. Avery Rump of Fort Madison was the winner in 18:45. Other Demons included Emma Horak 10th, Angeline Anderson 17th, Ellie Van Der Molen 27th, Zully Aranda Terrones 37th, Allie Wulf 41st, Isobel Murphy 45th, Kenzie Thomas 50th, and Denisse Gonzalez Urena 54th.

The WACO boys were team runners-up with their score of 59 points, led by individual runner-up Jude Dykstra in 16:26. Other Warriors included Garrett Landau ninth, Locken Henderson 10th, Gavin Slagel 15th, Tristan Luitjens 23rd, Hunter Wilson 28th, Wyatt Wilson 76th, and Logan Graber 91st. The Warrior girls did not post a team score. They were led by Josie Dykstra fifth in 19:51, followed by Macie Carter seventh and Deedra Graber 47th.

The Lone Tree girls were sixth with 140 points. The Lady Lions were led by Addison Eiben 23rd in 23:28, followed by Lydia Hartman 25th, Ava Christofferson 34th, Carlee Sexton 36th and Abby Zaruba 43rd. The Lone Tree boys were eighth with 217 points. Lion leader was Brock Nebergall 12th in 17:35, followed by Dallas Grimm 54th, Trenton McKean 72nd, Carter Parrish 74th, and Max Poock 89th.

The Highland boys were ninth with 271 points. Top runner for the Huskies was Kyler Fink 68th in 21:55, followed by Alan Nass 75th, Chase Hickenbottom 78th, Brayden Zywiec 87th, and Jackson Robinson 88th. For the girls, Grace Bombei was 15th in 22:23 and Aubrey Hahn was 28th.

Keota sent their boys team and were led by Chase Haifley in 50th at 20:41. Other Eagles were Hunter Grandstaff 60th, Luke Moeller 65th and William Greiner 94th.

During a Senior Night Ceremony Washington honored Andrew Rees, Sawyer Tschantz, Quintyn Garibay, Iris Dahl, Angeline Anderson, Zully Aranda Terrones, Maya Bruty, Isobel Murphy and Allie Wulf.
