The No. 4 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team scored a Senior Night win Thursday at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman over the visiting Alburnett Pirates. The Hawks got the win by sweep 25-19, 25-14 and 25-17. Mid-Prairie was led by Jovi Evans who continued her triple-double streak with 18 assists, 13 kills and 10 digs with four aces. Avery Helmuth had 20 assists, Jeorgia Evans 16 digs, Harper Pacha 11 kills and two blocks, and Elise Foster three aces. After the match, Mid-Prairie seniors Evans Helmuth, Katelyn Harland, Pacha, Ellie Callahan and Laurin Fay talked with KCII Sports about the night. “We went into (Senior Night) a little nervous, not sure what to expect. It was pretty fun. It doesn’t feel like we’re seniors, but after that it’s a little more real. We’re all very excited and it feels special because we all play for each other. We had a reason to be here. It made us realize we are the leaders and have the ability to bring everyone together and play as a team. We did everything pretty well tonight. We did a good job of playing our game and going fast. It was fun to get a win on Senior Night!”

Mid-Prairie is now 15-5 overall and 5-0 in the River Valley Conference as Alburnett drops to 2-12 and remains winless in the RVC. The Hawks travel to Carlisle for tournament action Saturday.
