
The KCII listening area was well represented Tuesday at Mount Pleasant High School for the Panther Cross Country Invitational. Local schools swept the small school team and individual championships.
In the boys race, it was the WACO Warriors bringing home team gold with their overall score of 48 points, beating second place Columbus’ 64. WACO was led by individual champion Jude Dykstra with his time of 16:23. Other Warriors included Locken Henderson fifth, Garret Landau eighth, Gavin Slagel 11th, Tristan Luitjens 23rd, Hunter Wilson 34th, Logan Graber 85th and Kaden Donaldson 87th.
The second place Wildcats were led by Ryan Villa in 10th in 17:58. He was followed by Kevin Villa 12th, Drake Marin 13th, Victor Tovar 14th, Cade Storm 15th, Elias Gonzalez-Bravo 16th, Elias Duran 25th, Alan Miranda 26th, Silas Falk 58th, Tyson Corneille 62nd, Noah Razo 67th, Christopher Neri 78th, Griffin Robertson 81st, Jeremy Hurlbut 83rd, David Garcia 86th, Donovan Vergara 91st and Mwenebato Tcheo 92nd.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks were fifth with 112 points. The Hawks were paced by Max Swartzentruber in sixth in 17:22. He was followed by Luke Brokaw 17th, Reece Waters 22nd, Jesse Stultz 29th, Jonathon Pickard 41st, Ty Huber 43rd, Ben Lothamer 45th, Carl Gustafson 46th, Archie Damschen 47th, Landon Hough 60th, Cayce Damschen 61st, Oliver Feltes 71st, Andrew Adam 77th and Damian Garcia 88th.
Winfield-Mt. Union did not post a team score. They were led by Brayden Cline 37th in the field in 20:05. Other Wolves included Bowen Thomson 42nd, Parker Wilson 55th and Adlin Wilkerson 90th.
In the girls race, it was the top team in the land in Class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks winning the team championship with their score of 24 points. Louisa-Muscatine was second with 50. The Hawks were led by the individual small school champ Brooklyn Stutzman in 19:13. Other Mid-Prairie runners were Rebekah Wallington sixth, Kyrie Poll seventh, Hannah Rodgers eighth, Nikkari Poll 15th, Ella Chiang 21st, Averi Janecek 25th, Leah Kelley 34th, Alaina Safly 37th, Stella Miller 45th, Samantha Wunderlich 53rd and Gwen Wunderlich 55th.
Columbus was fifth as a team with 126 points. Gabby Duran was the Wildcat leader in 19th at 23:48. She was followed by Iris Garza 20th, Ellie Valencia 42nd, Naomi Allchin 49th and Jenelis Panchillo 50th.
The WACO Warriors did not post a team score but were led individually by Josie Dykstra third in 20:02. Other Warriors included Macie Carter fifth, and Deedra Graber 43rd.
Winfield-Mt. Union had Ashlyn Bender finish 44th.
