The 2025 Iowa School Performance Profile has been released, and Highland Community School District overall has received a high-performing rating for the year.

The Highland High School also received a high-performing rating for the year, while the elementary and middle schools received commendable ratings.

The district had 100% participation rates on required testing, with every Highland student completing either the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress or Dynamic Learning Maps alternate assessment.

The district’s attendance numbers were above the statewide average, with 10.06% chronic absenteeism, 5% below average, and attendance growth of 6.1%, which was 1% above the state average.

Highland’s four-year graduation rate was 95.56%, over 7% higher than the statewide average.

For testing numbers, Highland’s proficiency was slightly below average, but the district’s growth numbers were above average. Both math and English/language arts testing proficiency were less than a quarter of a percent below the state average, with math at 70.75% proficient and ELA at 73.43%. Science proficiency saw a wider gap, with Highland’s 61.67% proficiency about 5.5-percentage points below the state average.

The district was in the 58th percentile of math growth and the 62nd percentile of ELA growth from year to year.

At the high school level, over 90% of Highland High School students were receiving some form of college credit, well above the state average of 70%. Highland High School students had 76.7% math proficiency, 78.6% ELA proficiency and 71.1% science proficiency.

At the middle school level, students had 72% math proficiency, 79.7% ELA proficiency, and 68.4% science proficiency.

At the elementary level, students had 68.5% math proficiency, 63.1% ELA proficiency, and 48.8% science proficiency.
