The Washington Demon volleyball team went the distance in a Monday win at the Demon Den over visiting Pella Christian. Washington came out on top by scores of 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-9. Demon leaders included Regan Miller with 23 assists and two blocks, and Carys Miller with 14 assists. Leighton Messenger put down 15 kills and had 16 digs. Layla Green had 14 kills. Ellie Farmer led the Demon defense with 18 digs. Taylor Miksch led from the service line with three aces. She spoke after the match with KCII Sports about how Washington came away with the win. “It was fun. It was so much chemistry. When you watch us you can just tell. The way we were passing the ball so confidently. We all connected, instead of being three separate, pass, set, hit, it was all one motion and it all flowed well. Two years ago, we had a team where we always went to the fifth set and we always lost. So I have a little PTSD from that. This year, I’m so focused on the fact that we did not come all this way to lose. We are a different team and we’re going to close out every time. I’m glad we did!”
The Demons improved to 6-7 with the victory while the Eagles fell to 7-6.
