The Washington City Council will hold a discussion and consider approving a fund agreement for the Washington Municipal Band Friends Fund. The agreement would be to remove the municipal band from the city budget and set up an endowment fund for the band with the Community Foundation.
The Washington Municipal Band has been active for 93 years. This year it had a total of over 60 members. The proposed agreement would start the fund at $15,000. The municipal band plays each Thursday evening in the summer in Central Park.
The council agenda will also include a proclamation from Mayor Millie Youngquist on Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, and approve an appointment to the Airport Commission.
The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. tonight in Washington City Hall.
