Washington County Supervisor Marcus Fedler presented two change orders for the County Courthouse renovation project to the board on Tuesday.
He explains more about the first change order, “In the courthouse we had a door that was shown on the plans that was existing that we were going to just leave as it was. But it entered into one of the attorneys offices. We thought it would be better to have it enter the conference room. So, basically it’s just the labor to patch the drywall on one side, and then add the door to the other side.” He shared about the second change order, “So on the south side of the attorney’s office in the basement, there is a condensate return line that runs pretty much the entire length of the main office there. The goal was to leave it exposed. However, after we removed some of the drywall and paneling. It was pretty obvious that it wasn’t going to work that well to keep it exposed. So we talked it over and came up with a plan to enclose it but leave it accessible, so now we have. It’s why it’s a little bit more money than we probably were expecting.”
The cost of the changes is $6,670.62, and were approved by the board. So far there have been six change orders for the courthouse renovation project totaling $26,495.80. The overall estimate for the renovation was $385,060.
The renovated area will provide a new area for the County Attorney with a conference room, two offices for Juvenile Court, GIS office, a private office for HR which is now within the Auditor’s office area, and a break room.
The renovation is planned to be completed by the end of the month.
