A fundraiser called Cooper 33 is being held this weekend to raise funds for a Mid-Prairie seventh grader undergoing cancer treatments. Earlier this year, Keylen Cooper was diagnosed with leukemia.
Keylen shared with KCII Radio how he likes to spend his time, “Sports, a lot, and running. Very active. And hanging out with friends.”
He also shared that his favorite professional football player is a former Hawkeye, “Cooper DeJean and his football number is 33. And I’ve been a fan before he was on the Eagles and stuff. The Eagles are my favorite team, they have been for years.”
Over the summer he and his family worked to organize a blood drive to help give back.
This Saturday a fundraising event is being held at the Washington Golf and Country Club for Keylen and his family. People can sign up to take part in a 33 mile run, 33 mile relay, one mile run or walk, a 5k run, or a golf tournament. Throughout the day there will be bounce houses, kids activities, a 50/50 raffle, and food available. All funds raised will go to the Keylen Cooper Trust to assist with easing the financial burden of medical bills and related expenses.
