There were three budget amendments approved by the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday moving funds within the county.

The first item discussed was the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the continued renovation projects that are ongoing with the county facilities. There were still funds available in that fund from last year. This resolution moved the remaining $413,122 into the Capital Projects category for the county. In total, Washington County received $4.3 million in ARPA funds, to date funds have been used for record digitization, and multiple building projects including the Orchard Hill renovation.

Deputy Auditor Michelle Hyman explains the other two budget amendments, “Put some appropriations in the Sheriff’s Office department, for the Emergency Management position that they are taking over. That’s a total of $103,000. Then the third item is $43,000 to close out the mental health fund.”

The mental health fund will be zeroed out with the dissolution of the mental health region by the state.
