Remember to protect your skin this holiday weekend and wear sunscreen in all temperatures. The Centers for Disease Control advises that the sun’s ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage in just 15 minutes of exposure.

Washington County Public Health Director Jenifer Roberts recommends frequently reapplying sunscreen, You can never put too much sunscreen on, so if you want to put it on sooner rather than later it’s always a good thing.”  She shares the example of if a sunscreen is SPF60, it should be reapplied in 60 minutes.

Remember to reapply it and do so more frequently if you are sweaty. If the morning starts cooler, don’t forget to apply after taking off a sweatshirt. Apply sunscreen about 10 minutes before going outside so your skin has time to absorb it.
