Officials responded to a rollover accident with an entrapment along Highway 218 on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at 2 p.m. Wednesday emergency personnel responded to multiple reports of a vehicle rollover on Highway 218 near 282nd Street, approximately two miles north of Crawfordsville. 

Upon investigation, it was determined that the 2014 Dodge Journey was driven by Brook Stagers of Lockridge. The SUV was traveling southbound on Highway 218 when it crossed the centerline, leaving the roadway causing Stagers to overcorrect and cross the centerline again, it then entered the west ditch and hit a concrete culvert. 

The vehicle became airborne and rolled across 282nd Street entering the southside ditch and came to rest upon its top. Stagers was extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel through mechanical means and transported to the University of Iowa Hospital by Washington County Ambulance. 

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the 

Crawfordsville Fire Department, Crawfordsville QRS, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Ambulance, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office K-9, and Moore’s Towing. 

This incident is determined to be under investigation, with charges pending.
